Our first fun activity
The Roberts have a membership at a private resort called Punta Leona. They invited us to tag along for a day at the beach. We haven’t really done anything fun since coming here, so we decided to take a day off and head to the beach. The drive from Puriscal takes about 1 1/2 hours. It really isn’t that far, just a few miles, but all the roads in CR are very small and windy.
Anyway, it was a very beautiful place. First we spent some time in the pools. We brought some sandwiches and things for lunch. While we were away at one pool, a raccoon decided that our peanut butter and jelly sandwiches were just the thing for him. When I got back, he was busily munching it under the lounge chair. I took a few photos. When he was done eating, he started looking for something else to steal. At this point, I decided it was time for him to go. He wasn’t so sure, and I ended up actually hitting him with my flip flop before he finally got the idea and ran off.
The beach by the pools was not so inviting because of the mud that washes down from the mountains. However, a short walk away is a really beautiful white sand beach. So we headed over there to play in the waves for a while. While there we noticed some beautiful blue and read parrots flying around. They landed in the trees and were soon joined by a couple of friends.
After we returned to the pool area we started gathering up our stuff to leave. The raccoon came back with a few friends and they ran off with the Roberts trash from lunch. I say ran off, but we had to chase them off by hitting them with our towels. Once they found there was not much in the trash, they started coming back and circling around trying to find any scrap of food they could get their hands on. It was really quite exciting!
